Fwd: Confusion
Letters to Perfectionism #154
Dear Perfectionism,
Somewhere along the line, I reckon we learned that confusion = danger. I’m realising this only now. 😵💫⚠️
If someone or something doesn’t make sense and isn’t coherent, it’s a threat.
To us.
To a perfect world. 🌏
When everything’s ‘wrong,’ broken, unresolvable and unfixed i.e. the way it shouldn’t be - that somehow signals mortal danger to us.
You and I cannot abide when that’s the case. Something must be done. 😶
🤮 And when it can’t… then comes the rumination. We soak up confusion like a sponge and make it our own. So you can perfect it internally, maybe.
Which is exhausting. 💤
But what if confusion is just a state? One that comes and goes.
Like perfect.
Or calm.
I don’t want to waste our gifts owning confusion that isn’t mine.
Love, Chris x
